ARTEFACTS
Claremorris Gallery, Co. Mayo, Dec 2023
This show presented a diverse range of working practices and imagery as 'artefacts' of my working methods, my collections of materials and the memories and experiences which gave rise to the works. Marks in the works seem haphazard, like scratches on an old object or on the surfaces of an abandoned space. The titles, forms and surfaces in the pieces suggest events in domestic spaces and in some pieces, colour brings the body into those places. Clouds represent certain memories or feelings about those events.
'THIS IS THE POINT OF CONTACT'
Solo Exhibition, Talbot Gallery & Studios, Dublin, 2014
This body of work looked at the contrast between the solidity of objects and places we hold dear versus the intangible nature of feelings such as nostalgia and longing and how we use objects and ritual to create meaning in the stories we tell about ourselves and our origins.
THE GOOD ROOM
Solo Exhibition
Wexford Arts Centre, 2011 (Award-funded by Wexford County Council)
The 'Good Room' refers to what many Irish people may have commonly called a room in a house, such as a dining room or second sitting room which is reserved for use during special occasions or when important visitors come to call; the room into which, throughout the rest of the year, young children may not be allowed and in which are kept the most treasured items of the house such as collections of dinnerware or expensive furniture. This body of work explores the dual nature of The Home as both a private enclave and a public showcase.
EVERYWHERE THERE ARE PALACES
Solo Exhibition, Stone Gallery, Dublin, 2009
This body of work looks at The Home (and the objects within it) as one's 'castle', a place which protects but also defines. It looks at how we use objects and buildings to project power & prestige.

'HOLDINGS'
